Roundoff - Back handspring
DRILL 1
BACK HANDSPRING WITH BOUNCE FROM TRAMPETTE
The focus in this drill is the transition between the end position of the Roundoff and the Back Handspring.
FOCUS POINTS
A
Keep arms by the knees for as long as possible before pulling them up.

HANDSTAND – KORBET IN TRAMPETTE, BOUNCE BACK TO INCLINE
A drill we primarily use for preparation for the next drill.
FOCUS POINTS
A
The hands should slide of the running block down towards the knees.
B
While the gymnast is sitting in the mat, their hip-angle should be small, the head should be tucked in and the upper body rounded.

DRILL 3
HANDSTAND – BACK HANDSPRING FROM TRAMPETTE
The focus is on the transition between the Roundoff and the Back Handspring by snapping from a Handstand into a Back Handspring.
FOCUS POINTS
A
The hands should slide of the running block down towards the knees.
B
Keep the legs as straight as possible.

DRILL 4
ROUNDOFF INTO C-POSITION, TAKE-OFF TO BACK HANDSPRING
Teaches the gymnast not to pull their arms immediately after the Roundoff.
FOCUS POINTS
A
Forces the gymnast to finish their Roundoff before beginning their Back Handspring.

ROUNDOFF TO BACK HANDSPRING TRAINER
Bringing it all together with a little aid, so that the coach isn’t required to do heavy spotting.
